Many of our communities face ongoing food insecurity issues. With food being an essential part of the wellbeing of individuals, our team of volunteers from Dawson Civil, Dawson International Truck Centres and our corporate office lent some helping hands last Friday to volunteer with the Kamloops Food Bank.
As a result of Dawson Civil and Dawson Construction’s wildly successful silent auction, where employees bid on nearly 600 pounds of grain-finished beef purchased from a local 4H club, a $5,000 donation was made to the Kamloops Food Bank. Employees from the Kamloops Dawson International Truck Centres location also donated food items and will continue to collect donations until the end of this week.
Following the donations, our team helped sort pallets of donated food by checking for expiration dates and damaged packaging, before sorting it into boxes for further distribution.
Our team was also treated to a tour of both Kamloops Food Bank buildings, learning about the food bank’s process of collecting, sorting and distributing food for their clientele, along with a brief history and importance of the program.
If you are interested in supporting the Kamloops Food Bank through donations or volunteering, please visit their website for more information.
Elsewhere across our company, employees from our Dawson International Truck Centres Kelowna location donated food to the Lake Country Food Bank.
