As a way to commemorate the Indigenous children that never returned home across our country, Dawson Group will pause our operations company-wide on Sept. 30, to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day where we honour survivors, their families and communities. The tragedies that occurred at residential schools in our neighbourhoods, our provinces and our country must not be overlooked and their impact must always be acknowledged.
We encourage all our employees friends and families to learn more about the history of residential schools and their devastating impact in Canada. Visit Reconciliation Canada’s detailed website to learn more.
We encourage everyone to find an event in support of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in your area that supports our Indigenous communities.
Lastly, when honouring this day, Dawson Group encourages our employees to show their support by wearing an orange shirt to work on September 29, or if you work this weekend, wearing it one on Saturday for Orange Shirt Day. Dawson employees around Williams Lake will be supporting the significant Orange Shirt Day through fundraising and volunteering.
