The Dawson International Truck Centres team in Kelowna was happy to get out and volunteer for the Salvation Army this month. Our scheduled volunteer day had been delayed for several months due to the summer wildfire events, but with the arrival of fall and cooler temperatures, the Salvation Army is in need of volunteers once again!
On October 7, Bailey Gibson, Mike Wakelin and Rhonda Bampton spent two and half hours, sorting an impressive 3,100 pounds of food. Hannah Walsh, Operations and Resource Coordinator for The Salvation Army, was kind enough to note for the team that the food they sorted “converted to 3,100 meals, or just over 1000 days’ worth of food for an individual.”
You can make such a big impact with a few hours or a donation also! Visit KelownaSalvationArmy.ca to find out more about how you can help.
