The Wildlights display at the B.C. Wildlife Park is a beloved Kamloops-holiday tradition. Earlier this month, employees from across Dawson Civil, Dawson Construction and Dawson International Truck Centres, along with volunteers from our corporate, office returned as volunteers to donate their time to assist in the preparation of the colourful show.

With thousands of strings of lights and several displays needed setting up both inside and outside, employees eagerly registered for multiple shifts to help get the show ready for the end of the month.

Along with decorating the park, there was also a need for cleaning it up, as it transitions from the summer season to the winter. Filled with many kinds of trees, the Wildlife Park needed help raking the leaves before the snow flies for two main reasons. Depending on the type of leaves, they were either used to feed their Cariboo or were given to the Grizzly bears to help them create cozy dens for winter hibernation.

Following their volunteer shifts, employees were also gifted the opportunity to tour the park to check out the animals – which included meeting Dawson, one of the Grizzlies!

The Wildlights display begins Friday, Dec. 13 and runs until Sunday, Jan. 5.
